Description
Our Ask/Answer Q’s Understanding Non-Fiction lesson plan teaches students strategies for asking and answering questions to gain a better understanding of non-fiction text. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to read a passage assigned to them and create, ask, and answer questions using each question word (who, what, when, where, why) as the first words for the question and then answer them. Students are also asked to practice answering pre-written questions about text they are reading.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers.
