Capitalization (Grades 4-6)

In our Capitalization lesson plan for grades 4-6, students learn how to identify and use capitalization rules correctly in their writing and when editing other people’s writing. Students also have a discussion about why proper capitalization is important and necessary.

Our Capitalization lesson plan for grades 4-6 guides students to identify and apply the rules correctly to develop their writing and editing skills. Students work collaboratively, in pairs, to think of objects, places, people, and more, and decide which of those things needs to be capitalized. Students will also engage in a discussion of the purpose of capitalizing words and impact of using the rules of capitalization when emailing or texting.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and use the rules of capitalization correctly for writing and editing.
