Our Government Types lesson plan explores the differences between different types of governments. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a group on an assignment in which they are assigned a type of government and have to imagine what would happen if their type of government ruled their school for a day, answering questions about how the curriculum would change, what rules they would have, and more; once finished, each group presents their answers to the class. Students are also asked to match types of government to characteristics of governments in order to demonstrate their understanding of each type.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to define, compare, and contrast the different types of governments, and identify their roles in society or a country.
