Our Informative Writing lesson plan teaches students how to be better at writing informatively. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to read a passage about dolphins and complete a graphic organizer to make six complete phrases. Students are also asked to work independently to complete a graphic organizer about starfish and then use the information from the graphic organizer to write an informative paragraph about starfish.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section.
