With our Introduction to Multiplication lesson plan, students learn the basics of multiplication. As a part of this lesson, students practice solving simple multiplication problems and practice writing multiplication problems.

Description

Our Introduction to Multiplication lesson plan teaches students about multiplication, including what it is and why it is useful in math. During this lesson, students are asked to read simple word problems, convert them into standard multiplication problems, and solve them. Students are also asked to practice multiplying single-digit numbers together in order to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson material.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand multiplication as repeated addition and use diagrams to solve for the product of two numbers.

Quality Educational Materials

I was able to download a total of nine educational materials for free! Currently, I am working with my third grade classroom on skip-counting as an introduction to multiplication. The lesson on skip counting (5, 10, 100) was extremely helpful in helping students who were struggling how skip counting counts groups of items rather than individual items and it is a more effective way of solving problems. Within the lesson was a handful of resources to utilize, so I did not have to follow the lesson verbatim. I feel Clarendon Learning is providing valuable and quality educational materials for educators who desire to find lessons that engage our students. Well done Clarendon Learning! I highly recommend educators to visit your website to find quality lessons and educational material to reach all learners.
