Our Multiply Fractions by Whole Numbers lesson plan teaches students how to solve multiplication problems where one of the numbers is a fraction. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner and use their creativity to create a poster showing how to multiply a fraction and whole number, including the steps and several example problems. Students are also asked to solve practice problems in which they multiply two numbers together, one of which is a fraction, and change the product to a mixed or whole number, reducing when necessary.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to change whole numbers to fractions and multiply a fraction by a whole number.
