Vowel Sounds

With our Vowel Sounds lesson plan, students will learn about both long and short vowel sounds. Students identify long and short vowel sounds in words and use them to improve their spelling and pronunciation.

Our interactive Vowel Sounds lesson plan introduces long and short vowel sounds, which is a foundation for decoding and spelling skills in young students. This lesson stimulates concept imagery with hands-on activities to differentiate long and short vowels, which both utilizes and strengthens analytical skills. During this lesson, students are asked to color in blocks containing words based on their vowel sounds (long or short). Students are also asked to identify which vowel sound rule various words follow.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and use long and short vowel sounds.
