Our What is Kwanzaa? lesson plan teaches students all about Kwanzaa, including its origins and how it is celebrated today. During this lesson, students are asked to read about various customs around Kwanzaa and consider how the core values associated with those customs might be seen in their own lives or communities. Students are also asked to match specific actions with the correct Kwanzaa principle, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to explain the secular origins and traditions of Kwanzaa and identify the various symbols and meanings related to the holiday.
